This is a very simple dish. You only need 4 ingredients and it can be eaten cold as well as hot. Another plus about this dish is that, it is only 70 calories per serve so you can eat till something delicious and not feel guilty. This dish goes very well with Turkish rice (posted here: https://mydelish.wordpress.com/2019/12/10/turkish-rice-pilav/) but you can also eat it with toast or, as my kids do it, with plain yogurt. They seem to like the hot and cold sensation as they eat it. But I understand that it may be just them.
Since today is meat free Monday, I felt this was a good recipe to share, but IF you must have meat, you can add beef or chicken cut into cubes to this recipe. It is indicated below when you can do it.

What you need:
- 500 g of princess beans
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, cut into very thin slices
- 3 medium tomatoes, cut into small pieces
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tsp sweet chili powder
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes (do not add if you do not like spicy food)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups water

What you do:
- Rinse the beans in cold water.
- Clean the tip and edges and then break them into bite size
- Add the olive oil and then place the onion, garlic and chilli flakes
- Cook for 4-5 minutes until the onions are translucent (if you are using meat add it now and cook at least halfway through before you add the beans)
- Add the beans and stir for a few minutes
- Then add the salt, pepper, sugar, tomato paste and stir well
- Finally add a cup water (the beans should be somewhat covered – so add more water if you need)
- Cover and cook for 35-40 minutes on medium heat. Stir occasionally
- The beans should be cooked but still have a bite. Check at 35 minutes and see if it needs more time.
Serve with Turkish Rice http://cuizzine.wordpress.com/2013/12/10/turkish-rice-pilav/, toast or yogurt.
Enjoy!
